Don’t wait until New Years

New Year’s resolutions can be great, but if you have something you’re “saving” to begin January 1st, just do it today.

Part of the reason resolutions fail is because of the mindset “I’ll do it when ____”. This puts the responsibility of accomplishment on whatever the blank is instead of on ourselves.

If the new year is the reason for starting a new goal/routine/lifestyle, then as the “newness” of the year fades away (somewhere in February or March), then the resolution fades too.

Waiting for a certain set of circumstances to do something- I’ll start working out on January 1st, I’ll put more effort into my marriage/work/health when I’m sleeping better, I’ll organize the house when I have the energy, I’ll start saving money when I’m making more money, I’ll start writing a book once I have a platform- is the wrong mindset.

If you have something you could start now that you’re waiting “until ____”, start it now!

Even on New Year’s Eve Eve!
