Each season is precious

This time around with a baby, I’ve been so aware, much more than ever before, of how each stage goes by so quickly. It’s so cliche- “it goes so fast”, “blink and you’ll miss it”- but seriously! Most of us realize it, but it’s still surprising, almost shocking.

This little chubby infant is already almost a toddler now!? Standing and nearly walking, understanding so much, and, sadly, losing some of that adorable pudgy-ness of the thighs! 🥹💔

I’ve been trying to clear out some pictures/videos on my phone, and have watched some videos of the now-big kids when they were little, and it’s just crazy that it seems so far away but also so close. They still have their same mannerisms and ways of talking- like, they’re each still the exact same person, just almost as tall as me now!

But anyone who’s ever used the “it goes by so fast” in a negative sense or, worse, the “just you wait”- trying to scare me of some loss that will come when they’re older, it’s just not true at all. I mean, yes, there’s loss of what was, but there’s gain of what IS, too! Yes it does go by fast, and all those old stages were so indescribably precious and sweet- but so is each new stage! Having older kids, preteen kids- it’s just as precious as the toddler years! There’s a back and forth between wanting to hold onto this season, but also knowing that the next, when we’re in it, will be just as hard to imagine life without! It does go by fast, and it’s ok to be sad that certain sweet seasons don’t last forever, but don’t let it take away from the current and next seasons!

I do miss those little fat legs though 😂🥹

Have you had a “favorite” age or stage? Let me know in the comments! Personally, I just love four years old- there’s just so much discovery and imagination happening!
